Easy Caramel Drizzled Praline Apples

This apple dessert is super simple to make, and the sky’s the limit with serving ideas and variations. A few things of note I’d like to mention.

  • Prepare Skillet – Preheat the oven to 350°F. Melt two tablespoons of butter, cube the rest. Swirl the melted butter to coat the bottom and sides of a 10-inch cast iron skillet or similar.
  • Apple Slices – Arrange the apple slices evenly in the skillet overlapping. Drizzle the apple slices with apple cider.
  • Cinnamon topping – Mix together the brown sugar, ground cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle over the apples. Arrange the pecans and cubed butter on top.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until fork tender and golden.
  • Warm the dulce de leche in a microwave safe bowl and drizzle on top.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
How To Make Baked Caramel Drizzled Praline Apples

How to Make the BEST Caramel Drizzled Praline Apples

  • Ingredients you’ll need to make Caramel Drizzled Praline Apples: Apples (Gala, Honey Crisp or Granny Smith), butter, apple juice or apple cider, chopped pecans, light brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and dulce de leche or a thick caramel ice cream topping.
  • Kitchen tools you’ll need: 10 inch skillet or baking pan, apple corer and slicer or sharp knife and cutting board, measuring cups and spoons, small bowl, large bowl.
  • I used Gala apples in this recipe however you can adapt using your favorite variety.
  • Depending on the variety of apples you choose to use, the amount of sweetness or liquid may need to be slightly adjusted.
  • Topping these apples with sweet, rich, buttery caramel just makes sense. Especially, if it’s  dulce de leche. If you have a favorite caramel ice cream topping, by all means use that instead.
  • You can find dulce de leche at specialty shops and on the Hispanic foods isle of most grocery stores.
  • These praline baked apples are so tasty they can be served with or without a drizzle of caramel. Although, they’re designed to be enjoyed with the drizzle of caramel to tie all of the flavors together. They’re also spectacular with a drizzle of my  Bourbon Praline Pecan Sauce.
  • Add a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream, or fresh whipped cream and it’s bound to be a happy dessert day in your kitchen.
  • Store baked Praline Pecan Apples chilled in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in single servings in the microwave and enjoy.
