Hello, thank you for stopping by to visit my cooking blog! My name is Melissa, I’m a busy Mom, best selling cookbook author, avid cook, baker, food writer and blogger. I’m passionate about creating delicious dishes to share with family and friends.

I come from a long line of fabulous Southern cooks, and like most people, my culinary training took place at the side of my Mom and Grandmothers. Over the years, cooking has become a true creative outlet and passion. I truly enjoy the creative process of developing new recipes and re-inventing Southern favorites. I also enjoy finding ways of making International dishes and flavors accessible to the home cook. I’ve traveled quite a bit, and I lived overseas for several years so, my International inspiration comes from those avenues and at times you’ll see my Southern Kitchen go global! I cook and share my creations for the sheer joy of it, and I’m delighted to have you visit my blog. My hope is that you’ll find a dish to enjoy with your family.

My website evolved out of my love of creating menu ideas for everyday meals and special occasions. I started posting my own recipes along with some tried and true family favorites in July 2011 and my blog has been growing steadily ever since. It’s now Incorporated and I have a best selling Melissa’s Southern Cookbook, too.

About Melissa's Southern Style Kitchen

As I began to write about my kitchen creations and working with many National brands, the more I enjoyed the idea that my work was actually helping other people and inspiring many to get back into the kitchen! Some of the people I knew personally, and many people, from all of over the world, I would likely never meet face to face. Somehow, through sharing something that I’m passionate about, we’ve all been brought together. It’s amazing how a single dish can bridge cultural lines and language barriers, bringing us all to one place, around the kitchen table.

So, thank you for stopping by, and consider yourself invited to pull up a chair to my kitchen table to visit for a while. I’d love to hear from you, so feel free to contact me with any questions you may have or leave a comment letting us know how my recipes have inspired you, too.

Happy cooking,

Melissa
