How to Make the BEST Shrimp Scampi Recipe

  • Ingredients you’ll need to make homemade Shrimp Scampi: Large tail on shrimp, angel hair pasta, white white or chicken stock, lemon juice and wedges for serving, butter, chopped parsley, garlic salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes and finely diced onion.
  • Kitchen tools you’ll need: A pasta pot, large skillet, sharp knife and chopping board, tongs, measuring cups and spoons.
  • To expedite preparation, I recommend that you start making the pasta first, when making this dish. The pasta takes longer to cook and you’ll be less likely to overcook the shrimp.
  • I recommend using a large shrimp when making this dish. That said, you can of course, use any size you prefer. Keep in mind, shrimp cooks very quickly and you should adapt the cooking time based on the size. Otherwise, the shrimp may become tough and rubbery.
  • Tail on shrimp makes for the prettiest presentation.
  • white wine provides the acidic quality in this dish to balance the flavor. You can use chicken stock, if that’s your preference.
  • Cook the angel hair pasta per the package recommendation in salted water just until al dente.
  • You can serve this dish with a generous sprinkling of freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Shrimp Scampi is best made fresh and eaten. You can store leftovers chilled in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave in single servings or in a saucepan over medium heat.
