Ingredients

  • 1 (12) count package dinner rolls, Hawaiian sweet rolls or slider rolls warmed or buttered and toasted under oven broiler just before assembling
  • 1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce i.e. Heinz
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk or milk
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp prepared barbecue seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic or garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Glaze:
  • 2/3 cup chili sauce i.e. Heinz
  • 4 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp prepared barbecue seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. Spray a broiler pan or oven-safe grill pan liberally with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a medium-size mixing bowl mix together ground beef, egg, chili sauce, buttermilk, breadcrumbs, onion, salt, barbecue seasoning, garlic, onion powder and pepper. Using your hands, mix until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Divide the meatloaf mixture into 12 equal portions and form into thick patties approximately 1 inch thick.
  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar and barbecue seasoning until fully combined.
  • Arrange meatloaf patties onto prepared pan and drizzle with ½ of the glaze.
  • Bake for 20-22 minutes or until no pink remains and the juices run clear. Drizzle tops with the remaining glaze and broil for 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve immediately on warm buttered and toasted dinner or slider rolls.

Notes

There are many brands of prepared barbecue seasonings available. Use your favorite or what's available on the spice aisle of your local grocery store.
