Ingredients

  • 2 lb lean ground beef
  • 2-3 Tbsp olive or vegetable oil
  • 1 medium sweet onion finely diced
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 3 medium cloves garlic minced
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/2-1 tsp liquid smoke adjust to taste

Instructions

  • In a large heavy bottomed pot or skillet, heat oil on medium-high heat. Add onion and bell peppers. Cook for 3-5 minutes or just until softened and beginning to brown. Add garlic, cooking for 1 minute longer.
  • Add ground beef. Continue to cook for 6-8 minutes or until browned and no pink remains breaking up the ground beef with a spoon. Drain excess fat from pot.
  • To the pot add tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, seasoned salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, mustard and liquid smoke. Mix well.
  • Cook uncovered over medium-low heat for 10-15 minutes.
  • Serve immediately on warm slider rolls, hamburger buns or Kaiser rolls.
