Ingredients

  • 2 quarts apple cider
  • 2 cups cran-apple juice
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries (reserve 1/2 cup for garnishing)
  • 6 whole allspice berries
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 6 star anise
  • 3-4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 whole nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large orange sliced 1/4 inch thick slices (Plus additional for garnishing)

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan or pot, mix together cider, cran-apple juice, 1/2 cup cranberries, cloves, allspice berries, star anise, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, granulated sugar and orange slices.
  • Cover and simmer on lowest setting for one hour. (barely bubbling) Stir every 20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, skim off any particulate or stir into the cider. Serve warm garnished with reserved cranberries and orange slices.
