Caramel Drizzled Praline Apples
Servings 10 servings
- 8 large apples cored, ends removed and sliced ⅜ inch thick [ I used Gala]
- 8 Tbsp butter divided
- ⅓ cup apple cider or apple juice
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
- ⅛ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp nutmeg
- ½ cup roughly chopped pecan pieces
- 1 cup prepared dulce de leche or quality caramel ice cream topping warmed
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Melt 2 Tbsp of butter, cube the rest. Swirl the melted butter to coat the bottom and sides of a 10-inch cast iron skillet or similar.
Arrange the apple slices evenly in the skillet overlapping. Drizzle the apple slices with apple cider.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, ground cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle over the apples. Arrange the pecans and cubed butter on top.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until fork tender and golden.
Warm the dulce de leche in a microwave safe bowl and drizzle on top.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
