Canadian Bacon Hash Brown Quiche

  • Crust:
  • 1 Tbsp salted butter melted
  • 1 20 oz package refrigerated hash browns
  • 2 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • Filling:
  • 1 6 oz package Canadian bacon chopped
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided
  • 4 medium green onions thinly sliced
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup half and half or heavy cream
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp granulated garlic or garlic powder
  • tsp ground nutmeg
  • chopped fresh Italian parsley for garnishing


  • Preheat oven to 400˚F. Brush a deep dish 10-inch cast iron skillet or pie dish with cooking melted butter or spritz with cooking spray. (You can use any similar oven safe skillet)
  • To make crust: In a mixing bowl, mix together hash browns, Parmesan and egg until combined. Press hash browns firmly onto bottom and up sides of prepared skillet. Bake until lightly golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool to warm.
  • To assemble: Spread chopped Canadian bacon, green onion and 1 cup cheese on bottom of crust.
  • In large mixing bowl whisk together eggs, half and half, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder and nutmeg until well combined. Pour egg mixture evenly over filling and crust. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. (You can use more than ½ cup cheese on top, if desired)
  • Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until center has puffed up and eggs are set, about 30-40 minutes. Just until the center is set when gently shaken.
  • Remove from oven and let stand for 30 minutes before cutting and serving warm, garnished with parsley.
