Ingredients

  • 1 12 oz block feta cheese
  • 2 5 oz containers plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 8 oz container chive and onion cream cheese softened
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil plus additional for drizzling on top
  • 1 Tbsp lemon zest more or less to taste
  • 4 medium garlic cloves minced
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh dill plus additional for garnishing
  • 1-2 tsp kosher salt or sea salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes adjust to taste
  • 1/2 cup quartered cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced cucumber, quartered
  • Greek kalamata olives and fresh dill for garnishing

Instructions

  • Crumble the feta in a large mixing bowl. Use an electric handheld mixer on medium-high speed to whip together feta, yogurt, cream cheese, lemon juice, olive oil, lemon juice and lemon zest until fluffy and combined.
  • To the bowl add garlic, dill, salt and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine and evenly distribute.
  • Transfer dip to a serving bowl. Top with cucumber and tomatoes. Drizzle with olive oil.
  • Serve garnished with sliced kalamata olives (more on the side!) and fresh chopped dill and pita chips.

Notes

  • You can make this healthy feta dip one day in advance and chill in the fridge in an airtight container. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish the top with olive oil, tomatoes, cucumber, dill and olives just before serving.
  • I recommend buying a block of feta cheese rather than crumbled feta for this recipe. Cheese that's already crumbled is drier than a whole block of cheese and won't make the creamiest dip.
  • Greek kalamata olives are almond shaped and have a deep red or purple hue. They have a slightly different flavor from black olives. That said, you could use black olives or green olives, if you prefer.
  • Whipped Feta Serving Ideas: You can serve this creamy whipped feta dip with pita chips, whole grain tortilla chips, crackers, fresh vegetables or slices of french bread for serving on the side. You can also dollop it onto salads and use it as a sandwich spread.
  • Serve Whipped Feta Dip for parties, picnics, holiday gatherings and barbecues.
  • Storage and Leftovers: Store leftover Whipped Feta Dip chilled in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
