Recipe Variations, Tips and Substitutions
- Use Room Temperature Butter – Before you begin, it’s important to give ample time for the butter to soften prior to whipping it so it will easily blend with the other ingredients. It seems like a small step, but it’s important for the ingredients to fully combine.
- Salted Butter – You can make this recipe using unsalted butter. When doing so, add 1/4 teaspoon salt per stick (1/2 cup) of butter.
- Double the Recipe – Should you decide to double the recipe, you should pull back just a bit on the cinnamon and don’t start with double the amount. Add 1 teaspoon then stop and taste and adjust the amount from there.
- Honey – Honey is a natural ingredient that has subtle nuances depending on where its from. Honey has a very robust flavor and can overtake the other ingredients if you add too much. If you’d like to add more, start with 1 tablespoon at a time to avoid adding too much.
- Use Immediately or Chill – You can make this cinnamon honey butter in minutes and use it immediately, if you’d like to. Otherwise, make it and let chill for at least one hour or overnight to allow the flavors time to combine and mellow.
Storage and Leftovers
- Leftovers – Store cinnamon butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Freezer – You can also freeze this cinnamon butter for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge prior to serving.

Yummy!
This is so good Janis, thanks!!
Hi Pam, 8 ounces does sound like a generous amount of honey but, I suppose it depends on how much of the other ingredients were being used. I hope you enjoy this one.
The ingredients were double yours but if you doubled your honey, its still more than yours, right? 4 TBSP is less than 8 oz right? I don’t know my measurements unless I look them up. Also, it didn’t have vanilla like yours, would that made a difference?
4 Tbsp is 1/4 cup so yes, much less than 8 ounces.
