Easy Dessert Charcuterie Board

If you’re needing an excuse to make the perfect dessert charcuterie board or in need of a last minute dessert, this chocolate board is the solution. Go ahead and call your closest friends and tell them to come on over! How do you know what cookies and sweet treats to plan for a dessert board? First, ask yourself what kinds of sweets you want to offer. For example, do you want a board that features different kinds of cookies, various candies, two bite cakes, brownies, mini muffins and cupcakes or a mixture of it all.   • Chocolate Sauce: Make one batch of my hot fudge sauce recipe.
  • Caramel Sauce: Make one batch of my salted caramel sauce. Both can be made one day in advance.
  • Cookies: Double Chocolate Cookies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Madeleine Cookies, Chocolate Mini Crullers, Lindor Chocolate Truffles,
  • Cake, Brownies and Donut Holes: Add Turtle Brownie Squares, Angel Food Cake, Shortbread Cookies, Chocolate Covered Pretzels.
  • Sweet Snacks: Muddy Buddy Trail Mix, Knoppers, Hershey Nuggets, Chocolate Bars, Pocky Sticks, Stroopwafels, Mini Stroopwafels, Candy Pop Snickers Popcorn, Chocolate Fudge Pirouette, French Vanilla Pirouette.
  • Fruit: One quart fresh strawberries with stems for easy pick-up.

How to Make a Chocolate Dessert Charcuterie Board

  • Make the Dipping Sauces – Prepare the Hot Fudge Sauce and Salted Caramel Sauce one day in advance and chill until assembling the board. (Tip: You can use a quality prepared hot fudge sauce and caramel sauce for a time saver.)
  • Choose and Prep the Board – Use a lint free cloth to wipe and prepare board. Make sure the board is food safe.
  • Arrange Cookies – Start with larger cookies and place them along the edges of board. The process images will help give you a guideline for how to begin.
  • Add Extras – Fill in the center of the board with donut holes, cubed cake, brownies and pretzels.
  • Fill Gaps with More Sweets – Fill in bare spots with the remaining muddy buddies, pocky sticks, stroopwafels, candied popcorn, pirouette, candy, chocolates and fresh strawberries. (Have fun it’s like decorating with food!)
  • Warm the Dips – Leave room for the chocolate fudge sauce and salted caramel sauce. Warm them both in the microwave then place into small decorative dessert bowls or wide mouth jars and place on the board.
  • Don’t Forget the Picks – Add bamboo picks or toothpicks near the fruit, hot fudge and caramel for easy pick up.
  • Serve – Serve your freshly assembled diy fruit and chocolate charcuterie board immediately and enjoy!

Tips for Making a Dessert Charcuterie Board

  • Kitchen Tools You’ll Need: A large square, rectangular or round food safe charcuterie board or tray, jars, decorative picks or toothpicks, sharp knife and cutting board.
  • Provide Dessert Plates and Bowls: Bowls can be handy for containing the items and the gooey dipping sauces.
  • Use a Food Safe Platter or Board: It’s essential to choose a beautiful and food-safe platter to display your treats. 
  • Food Safety: If you’re uncertain if the board is food safe, line the board with a cloth napkin or a piece of parchment paper to separate the food from the board. Bonus, easy cleanup, too!
  • Include Any Sweets You Enjoy: There are NO rules when choosing the kind of sweets you want to include on your board. Choose the cookies, doughnuts, brownies, muffins or cakes that you like considering the dietary needs of those you’re serving.

  • Warm the hot fudge sauce and salted caramel sauce then place into small decorative dessert bowls or wide mouth jars and place on the board.
