Old fashioned Oatmeal Raisin Cookies are the equivalent of dessert comfort food. These oatmeal cookies are loaded with sweet chewy raisins and the scratch made cookie dough can be made in advance, too. Easy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe

I love cookies in all flavors but, oatmeal raisin cookies take me back to my childhood. I know there are many package prepared mixes for these cookies, but baking anything from scratch is the only way to go to show the love and they come with the bonus of nostalgia at no additional cost.

How to Make the Best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe

  • Creamed Ingredients – Using an electric mixer cream together the butter, both sugars and vanilla.
  • Add Eggs – Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
  • Dry Ingredients – Use a whisk to sift together the flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and nutmeg.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

Instructions

    It does not state at what point you are to add the raisins and how to prepare them could you elaborate on this please?

    Wow just made the chewy oatmeal cookies (after refrigerating all night).
    So delicious and I mixed 1/2 dried cranberries with raisins!

        I have tried many oatmeal raisin recipes and yours without a doubt tops them all. Thank you. A 90 years old cookie lover

      1. If the ingredients were measuring accurately they shouldn’t be really flat. Did you make any substitutions or leave anything out?

      2. When I use butter or oil in a cookie recipe the cookies always turn out flat. I use Butter Flavored Crisco Sticks and they’re perfect!

      3. I always do a test bake with only 2 dough balls. If the cookies are flat, I add 2 Tbl. up to 4 more flour. People measure ingredients different and it’s possible you just need a little extra flour. In researching recipes, the flour measurement can differ by 1/2 c.
