Easy Shrimp Skewers Recipe
These shrimp kabobs are an impressive yet simple entree to make. In this recipe, I give you a homemade seasoning blend but you have room to get creative depending on what spices you have on hand. How do you make juicy Shrimp Skewers? First, soak wooden or bamboo skewers in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning. Place the shrimp into a medium size bowl and toss with vegetable oil and the seasonings until evenly coated. Count the shrimp, then divide evenly among the skewers. Baste with melted butter then bake for 12-15 minutes or just until cooked through. Baste with leftover butter and serve immediately.
How to Make the BEST Shrimp Skewers Recipe
- Ingredients you'll need to make homemade Shrimp Skewers: 2 pounds large shrimp peeled and deveined, tails intact, paprika, seasoned salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, onion powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, cayenne, melted butter, minced fresh garlic, lime or lemon juice and chopped flat leaf (Italian) parsley or cilantro.
- Kitchen tools you'll need: Large sheet pan lined with parchment paper, measuring spoons, medium bowl, small bowl, pastry brush and bamboo or metal skewers.
- You can use a prepared Cajun seasoning in place of the seasoning blend in this recipe for a shortcut, if desired.
- Count the shrimp and divide them evenly between the skewers. If you're using long metal skewers, you may yield 6 or 8 servings. When using shorter skewers, the yield may be greater. This is especially handy if serving these as an appetizer.
- This recipe uses shrimp with the tails on. It makes for a prettier presentation and gives you something to hold onto to remove them from the skewers.
- Shrimp can overcook very easily. Consider the size of the shrimp and adjust the baking time as needed. Large shrimp are easier to thread onto skewers.
- You may also opt to cook these shrimp on a baking pan fitted with an oven safe rack. You can also grill these shrimp skewers over medium heat for 5-6 minutes per side flipping halfway through grilling. Adjust the cooking time according to the size of the shrimp.
- Serve with Twice Baked Potatoes, Hushpuppies, Cilantro Lime Cole Slaw or Mexican Street Corn Salad.
- Store leftover Shrimp Skewers chilled in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat leftovers gently in an air fryer or under the broiler in the oven. Don't overcook.
