- Knife and cutting board or a nut chopper to prep the whole pecans. (You can buy pecans already chopped for a timesaver).

Recipe Variations, Tips and Substitutions
- Brown Sugar – You can use dark brown sugar for the caramel sauce for a stronger molasses flavor.
- Nuts – You could make these sticky rolls using walnuts, hazelnuts or almonds.
- Double the Recipe – You can make these in a 13-inch pan, if you need more servings.
- Spice – You could add a pinch of nutmeg in addition to the cinnamon for a warm spicy flavor.
- Do I Have to Bake Sticky Rolls in a Skillet? If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, no worries. You could make the caramel sauce in a heavy bottomed saucepan and pour it into an 8-inch or 9-inch cake pan or baking dish, if preferred.
- Arrange the Rolls in the Pan Upside Down – The rolls are placed into the pan upside down so when they’re inverted onto a serving platter, they’re right side up.
- Lay Foil on Top – When baking, lay a piece of aluminum foil on top then place into the oven to bake until the rolls are warm and lightly toasted.
- Remove from the Skillet – Invert onto a serving plate and be patient. It takes a minute or two for the caramel to fully release from the pan. Allow ample time so the caramel drizzles down the sides to coat each roll with the thick, rich, caramel pecan sauce.
- How to Serve – These gooey caramel pecan sticky rolls are versatile and could easily be served as a dessert with a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream at the end of any meal. Serve them for breakfast with a side of eggs, bacon and fresh fruit.

So deliciously tasty! Thank you for the recipe I had leftover sweet rolls that I needed to do something with. The only thing I changed was I only cooked it for 18 minutes.
Really great but my caramel got so hard, do you think I boiled the sauce too long? Loved them anyway.
Possibly. If you boil it to soft ball stage, it could do that. Next time, maybe back off on the heat a smidge.
Oh my!!! These were soooo delicious. I have been looking forever for a pecan sticky caramel rolls recipe. I don’t need to look any further. I have found the best recipe! Make it and you will be making these all the time. Very good!!!
Thank you so much!
My mother learned to make these Pecan Cinnamon Rolls from her Mother. As did her two sisters some 75 years ago. We all love them and whenMy Mother who is 83 now and I prepare them typically 4 dozen at a time. They draw friends and family from all around. In a couple days not 1 roll will be leftover.
Thank you for sharing this recipe it’s a great treat that has been around for centuries. I believe it’s in many different cookbooks our family have collected over the past 80 plus years
silly question regarding butter-does recipe call for 1/2 cup plus a stick of butter or are you saying 1/2 cups =a stick of butter??
That’s correct. 1 stick of butter is 1/2 cup.
Curious to know if you’ve ever split them in half, added butter and cinnamon-sugar like regular caramel rolls? If so, how did it turn out? This sounds like a good alternative to making from scratch. I have two packages left in my freezer from failed Christmas gathering (thank you Mother Nature for that snow/ice storm!), and a mad craving for caramel rolls! Was also good to read others have reduced the batch to make enough for just two with success. Can’t wait to try this!
I haven’t but, if you try it, come back and leave a comment how it went.
I’m thinking these are going to be a delicious treat for the relatives over the holidays!
These are so generous with the sauce. So good!
such a great recipe
Ahh you’ve got me at caramel!
I just made these, they are delicious and easy to make!
I’m glad you enjoyed these, thanks for commenting!
Very good. Only 2 of us, used 4 rolls, less than 1/2 of caramel sauce. Baked in individual dishes, then inverted on larger plate. Enjoyed it on Christmas morning along side a bacon cheese omelette. Will make full recipe again for friends.
Great EASY recipe with easily found ingredients. Love it!
Thank you!
Looks delicious,Melissa. Any idea for substitute for light corn syrup?
You could try honey if you prefer but, it will change the flavor a bit.
Would it work just as well to bake the rolls in a 9×9 pan? Or is the cast iron important?
Yes, you can bake this in a baking pan or another type of oven safe skillet.
Delicious and easy!! Thank you for sharing the recipe.
