Starting with Kings Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, no dough making or kneading is required.
Easy Caramel Pecan Sticky Rolls
Like you, I have my favorite places to shop for essentials and admittedly I spend much of my time at Target. When the folks at Kings Hawaiian and Target teamed-up for a special Holiday celebration to me it seemed like a match made in heaven. When they asked if I would create an original recipe using Kings Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls I thought I’d heard angels sing.
When I’m entertaining or hosting a special event for friends and family I find that the food theme is usually set with the first breakfast or brunch gathering. A holiday weekend is the perfect occasion to go the extra mile and serve a sweet treat that’s simple to make but has the “wow” factor, too. When I was collecting ingredients to create this recipe at my local Target, I was delighted to learn that they’re now carrying a 24-pack of rolls which allowed me to make a batch of these caramel pecan sticky rolls and have additional for ham and Swiss cheese sliders later in the day. Score for Mom.
- To prepare you begin the caramel pecan sauce on the stovetop in a cast iron skillet, or alternatively you could make the sauce and pour it into an 8 x 8-inch baking dish, if preferred.
- Next, arrange the Kings Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls over the rich buttery sauce.
- When baking, lay a piece of aluminum foil on top then place into the oven to bake until the rolls are warm and lightly toasted.
- Invert onto a serving plate and watch the caramel drizzle down the sides of each to coat with the thick caramel pecan sauce. The only thing left to do is stand back and watch them disappear one by one.
These gooey caramel pecan sticky rolls are versatile and could easily be served as a dessert with a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream at the end of any meal.

My mother learned to make these Pecan Cinnamon Rolls from her Mother. As did her two sisters some 75 years ago. We all love them and whenMy Mother who is 83 now and I prepare them typically 4 dozen at a time. They draw friends and family from all around. In a couple days not 1 roll will be leftover.
Thank you for sharing this recipe it’s a great treat that has been around for centuries. I believe it’s in many different cookbooks our family have collected over the past 80 plus years

silly question regarding butter-does recipe call for 1/2 cup plus a stick of butter or are you saying 1/2 cups =a stick of butter??
Melissa says
That’s correct. 1 stick of butter is 1/2 cup.

Curious to know if you’ve ever split them in half, added butter and cinnamon-sugar like regular caramel rolls? If so, how did it turn out? This sounds like a good alternative to making from scratch. I have two packages left in my freezer from failed Christmas gathering (thank you Mother Nature for that snow/ice storm!), and a mad craving for caramel rolls! Was also good to read others have reduced the batch to make enough for just two with success. Can’t wait to try this!

I haven’t but, if you try it, come back and leave a comment how it went.

Very good. Only 2 of us, used 4 rolls, less than 1/2 of caramel sauce. Baked in individual dishes, then inverted on larger plate. Enjoyed it on Christmas morning along side a bacon cheese omelette. Will make full recipe again for friends.

Looks delicious,Melissa. Any idea for substitute for light corn syrup?
Melissa says
You could try honey if you prefer but, it will change the flavor a bit.

Would it work just as well to bake the rolls in a 9×9 pan? Or is the cast iron important?
Melissa says
Yes, you can bake this in a baking pan or another type of oven safe skillet.
