This homemade Garlic and Herb Buttermilk Dressing is an upgrade on Ranch dressing that's super simple to make with the bonus of having complete control over the ingredients. The combination of herbs and seasonings in this dressing adds a depth of flavor you won't find in it's bottled counterpart at the grocery store. It comes together in minutes and it's ready to drizzle over your favorite salad but, chill time will make the flavors even more pleasing once they have time to marry. It's full flavored and sure to be a welcome addition to your salad menu.
Garlic And Herb Buttermilk Dressing
- I recommend adding the buttermilk to the mayonnaise first to incorporate fully.
- To make the dressing consistency thicker, decrease the buttermilk by ¼ cup and increase the mayonnaise by ¼ cup.
- You can easily turn this into a blue cheese dressing by adding 4 ounces of Saga Blue or Gorgonzola to the base and use it as a dip for vegetables or hot wings.
This dreamy dressing is creamy and packed with fresh flavors and like this Garlic Herb Butter from Gather for Bread, it's very simple to put together.

I’ve never left a comment on a blogger’s recipe before but this dressing was too good not to! I found it after searching for a dressing similar to the one I had at the Restoration Hardware restaurant in New York and I’m so glad I did - it’s absolutely delicious!
