Easy Sirloin Tips with Bell Peppers and Onions Recipe
Sirloin tips are often overlooked for quick weeknight dinners, but when you catch them on sale, they’re a fantastic choice. I like to serve them with a baked or mashed potato and a side salad for a satisfying, no-fuss meal. Sometimes, I give them a Tex-Mex twist by adding fajita seasoning and a squeeze of lime, then wrap them in warm tortillas with a DIY toppings bar for the family.
You can also switch up the flavor profile with Asian-inspired seasonings and serve over rice, or pile them onto toasted sub rolls for a hearty sandwich. It’s a quick, family-friendly meal that never leaves leftovers behind.

I marinated this for 2 days, not just overnight. So I don’t know if that added to my problem…but I realized too late that 3 lbs of meat was MUCH too much for my largest pan. It was totally unable to sauté, ruined the whole thing. Flavor wasn’t good. What in the world pan did you use to fit 3 lbs of meat and still get it crispy on the outside?
It is possible to marinate meat too long. A 12-inch or similar skillet is ideal for most recipes.
I love this recipe but the meat is a little tough and I marinated it overnight. How can I fix that so it’s a little softer.
Maybe cook it for a bit shorter time period and it may be more to your liking. Also, make sure it’s a quality cut to begin with and your results will be good every time. My guess is, it may need to be cooked for less time.
Seconded on the quality cut! I made this with sirloin steak tips from whole foods…YUM!
Beautiful, great choice!
Is there a way to make this with a softer cut of meat or in the crockpot? I find the sirloin is really tough on my stomach.
That would be a different recipe altogether. Feel free to browse my slow cooker recipes in the recipe index for alternatives.
Marinating now! Sooo hungry. And super suprisingly I already have those ingredients! All of em!
I love it when I have ingredients on hand for supper. Enjoy!
It’s a keeper! I hate making steaks because they never turn out tasty or like the restaurants. My son never says, Mom this steak is good. Therefore, I rarely make steak. However, I am on a tight budget and bought this cheap cut of steak.
This recipe was perfect! The marinade was both sweet, tangy, fresh (not salty). I did add only half of 1/4 soy sauce. The other one half of the 1/4 cup, I also chose to use red wine vinegar to tenderize the steak since we hate chewy steak, plus sirloin is a cheap piece of steak it needs tenderizing to me. I did use the cilantro which gave it that fresh taste like u suggested. It was amazing!
The best part, son said this steak is good (he said it twice). Anytime he says that, it’s a keeper. Thanks!
So happy you enjoyed this one, Nicole. And, being a bargain shopper myself kudos for turning a budget friendly cut of meat into a feast for your family!

Wonderful, thanks for letting me know!
I can’t wait to make it. My husband is seafood allergic any ideas for subbing soy sauce?
Worcestershire sauce has anchovies so, that’s not an option. You could replace it with a steak sauce that he can tolerate just read the label carefully.
Maggi sauce
I have this marinating right now.. Cant wait to eat dinner tonight!

This was good. Do not add additional salt as the soy sauce is salty. I added 1/4 cup of red wine to the marinade as well, I think it added to the flavor
