Easy Caramel Snickers Candy Bar Pie Recipe
Snickers bars have been around since the 1960’s and were originally called Marathon Bars. Mars, the company that makes these nutty chewy bars, changed the name to Snickers Bar in 1990.
This snicker bar pie is designed to be simple and it begins with a prepared graham cracker crust, which cuts the prep time down to a minimum. While it’s no secret I love to cook, there are always those moments when time overtakes the best of plans and intentions in my kitchen, as well. Desserts like my Reese’s Peanut Butter Pie and No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Refrigerator Cake save the day. Candy bar pies will always satisfy the sweet tooth of my dessert eaters and the flavor variations are endless.

Recipe Variations, Tips and Substitutions
- Caramel – The filling of this Snickers pie gets it’s sweet caramel flavor from dulce de leche. Dulce de leche is a luscious thick caramel that’s made as a result of caramelizing and reducing sweetened condensed milk. It’s available in most grocery stores in the Hispanic foods section in a small can that looks like sweetened condensed milk. You can also find it at World Market and specialty foods stores like Williams Sonoma. You could use a thick ice cream topping, instead.
- Vanilla Pie Filling – You could adapt the filling of this pie beating one can of sweetened condensed milk and 1/2-1 cup powdered sugar with the cream cheese. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.
- Peanut Butter – You could also replace the caramel with 1 cup of creamy peanut butter. When doing so, you’ll need to add just enough heavy cream to give it a creamy texture. Beat together the peanut butter, cream cheese and 1-2 cups of powdered sugar adding heavy cream in 2-3 tablespoon increments to thin.
- Chocolate – You can use semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips for the chocolate ganache to drizzle on top. You could also drizzle the top with caramel sauce.
- Cream Cheese – You can use Neufchatel cream cheese in place of full fat cream cheese and light whipped topping to reduce calories.
- Peanuts – You can keep the filling smooth by only adding peanuts as a garnish.
- Homemade Graham Cracker Crust – Using a premade graham cracker crust is deliberate to keep this preparation for this pie simple. You can certainly make your own, if preferred. See my homemade graham cracker crust recipe here.
