Ingredients to Make Chicken Bacon Ranch Pull Apart Rolls Recipe
My family loves leftovers and I never hear a complaint from them when we have a repeat dinner. I often try to reinvent leftovers a bit but at times it’s an encore presentation of the original. That’s how these Chicken Bacon Ranch Pull Apart Rolls sliders came to be, using leftover roasted chicken. They enjoyed them so much that I began picking up deli chicken to make them as a grab-and-go meal. Whether you use roast chicken, boneless skinless chicken thighs or deli chicken, you’re bound to make these easy sliders on repeat.

- Slider Rolls – I used one 15-ounce pack 12-count potato rolls (i.e. Martin’s) You can use any similar slider roll.
- Chicken – One pound of thinly sliced deli chicken or 3 cups of chopped cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken.

- Butter – Melted butter is used for brushing the rolls. You can use salted or unsalted butter.
- Herbs – Fresh chives add a hint of freshness to the butter mixture.
- Salt – Garlic salt adds both garlic and salt to season the butter. You can use plain salt and garlic powder.
- Seasoning – One teaspoon onion powder adds dimension to the flavor of the butter.
- Parmesan Cheese – Will add texture and a golden color to the tops of the rolls.

Recipe Variations, Tips and Substitutions
- Use Cooked Chicken or Deli Chicken – I use deli chicken for this recipe for ease of preparation. That said, you can use leftover grilled chicken, roasted chicken, rotisserie chicken or shredded chicken breasts with excellent results. The chicken just needs to be cooked.
- Ranch Dressing – You can use your favorite brand of ranch for this recipe. You can al make your own using my homemade ranch dressing recipe. For a quick version simply mix mayo with ranch seasoning.
- Cheese Substitutions – You can adapt using your favorite flavor of cheese or what you have on hand. The colby jack combination is a stellar option, when using it you can never go wrong. You could use pepper jack cheese for added spice or sharp cheddar cheese.
- BBQ Sauce – You could use equal parts barbecue sauce and ranch dressing for a sweeter flavor.
- Use Lighter Ingredients – Feel free to adapt using light butter, low fat cheese and light salad dressing to lower the calories, I’ve found they work beautifully, too.
- Fry the Bacon in the Oven – See my technique for cooking bacon in the oven here for easy clean-up.
- Crumble the Crispy Bacon – Since these gooey rolls are designed to be pulled apart, it’s important to use crumbled bacon in place of whole pieces so they can be pulled apart or cut apart, more easily.
- Hot Sauce – For a twist in flavor you can add a few dashes of buffalo sauce for spice.
- Rolls – You can also use Hawaiian rolls (King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls) or any similar size pull apart dinner rolls and slider buns for this recipe.
Storage and Leftovers
- Make-Ahead Tip – These rolls can be assembled one day in advance, covered with plastic wrap and chilled in the refrigerator. Doing so will have them ready to be baked when you’re ready to eat.
- Brush with Butter Just Before Baking – When assembling in advance, brush with melted butter and season the top per the recipe just before baking.
- Serving Suggestions – You can serve these chicken bacon ranch sliders with a side of fresh vegetables and extra Ranch dressing for dipping to round out a scrumptious handheld meal. You can also add a side of french fries or potato chips. Serve them for dinner or as an appetizer.
- Leftovers – Store leftover chicken sliders in an airtight container or wrapped in aluminum foil in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheating – You can reheat these chicken bacon ranch sliders in the microwave, in an air fryer or in the oven covered with foil.
- Freezing – You can freeze leftovers for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and reheat gently in the microwave, an air fryer or in a preheated 350°F oven with a piece of foil on top.

These were great! I used shredded chicken as well. Will definitely make again.
I made these for a huge get together and I had 5 people that asked for the recipe. They are unbelievably easy to make and dang, can we say YUMMY? Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Hi Elle, thanks so much for taking the time to let me know!
Very good , But I would recommend shredded chicken. if you layer deli chicken, when you pull a roll away giant slices come with it leaving no chicken on other sliders. Or chop up the deli sliced chicken. Very good though.
While you could use any chicken for this recipe, please note it does state in the recipe, you should cut along the edges of the rolls to separate for serving.
These are absolutely delicious! Thank you for a great recipe, can’t wait to take these to a party!
Thanks so much!
Oh my word… these little sliders were soooo flavorful. It’s definitely going to be my go to dish. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Thank you!
I have had so many friends request this , such a delicious and easy recipe a great to make ahead and even keep in freezer for another day !
Really good tasting but found it to be very salty. Will make it again, replace the garlic salt in the butter for the top of the rolls with garlic powder and only put on one piece of cheese.
Salt is completely subjective so, you can certainly adapt. Keep in mind, the cheese is the glue that holds it all together, for future reference.
Very good we have this at least twice a month
Thanks so much!
Hi!! So I have made these twice now and they are so delicious but the buns get really hard from putting them in the oven, do you have any tips or tricks for them to stay soft??
Thank you!
Hi Carissa, are you covering them? If so, they shouldn’t become too hard. You may choose to skip uncovering at the end of baking, or shorten the length of time they’re baked uncovered to just a few minutes.
These sliders are so delicious! My family loved them. This recipe is a keeper!
Thanks, Tony!
I made these delicious sliders for a Super Bowl Party. They were a big hit, I will be making them again.
Thank you, I’m so happy you enjoyed them!
Such a hit for our Superbowl party! Everyone loved them!
Thank you so much!
We have finger foods for Christmas Eve. and I was looking for something new to add to the menu. These look perfect. I can’t wait to try them.
Perfect, Merry Christmas to you and yours!
This year everyone wanted to spend less and make homemade gifts. I made this for everyone so that they can wake up Christmas morning and put in oven for a great snack or meal. Then they can enjoy the day with family and friends.
How thoughtful of you, great choice!
These were amazing. I used some leftover rotisserie chicken on them and everyone loved them. Thanks for the great recipe.
I’m so happy you loved these, thanks!
Ideas on how I could make this vegetarian?
Thanks!
I suppose you could fill these rolls with any grilled or sauteed vegetables you enjoy.
This is so good! I used Buffalo chicken slices and it gave them just a little kick. I will make these regularly for get togethers in the future!
Sounds great, thanks!
do you use the pre-packaged slided chicken or do you get it the deli to slice it for you?
I used thinly sliced deli chicken for this recipe as I don’t care for pre-packaged. That being said, from time to time, I’ve used rotisserie chicken (I love those Costco chickens!) and left-over grilled or roasted chicken thinly sliced. If you have packaged chicken on hand go for it, it’s delicious any way you go.
I use shredded chicken breast. I always have it in the freezer.
This recipe was a big hit with my family. I used Hawaiian rolls and turkey because that’s what I had. My family has already requested this recipe again.
Wonderful, thanks so much!
I’ve made these twice using Hawaiin rolls, once with Sliced cheddar and once and shredded Colby jack…and both were amazing. Throw in salad and air fried sweet potato fries; one of my nephews favorite meals.
Happy you enjoyed these, thanks!
Delicious and easy!!! Everyone loves!!!
